Return to Arendelle takes shape

The first reported plot details for Frozen III have been presented at Disney's D23 event in Anaheim, California, ahead of the animated sequel's planned arrival in cinemas in November 2027.

According to Empire's account from the presentation, directors Jennifer Lee and Trent Correy are developing a story in which supernatural events interrupt the wedding and honeymoon of Anna and Kristoff. Deluxe Media did not attend the presentation and has based this report on Empire's description of material shown in the room.

An icy realm and a hidden adversary

Footage described by Empire reportedly showed Elsa being struck by a small flying ice creature on the wedding day. The incident leads the familiar group into a crystalline setting inhabited by more butterfly-like icy beings.

Those creatures appear to be connected to the film's new antagonist. The presentation did not reveal the character in full, but showed a sharply manicured hand and a cloak formed around the creatures. Empire interpreted the material as indicating another human magic-user, although the character's identity and motives remain undisclosed.

New music performed on stage

Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel performed a new, darker arrangement of Frozen Heart, the opening number from the original film.

Josh Gad also performed a new song associated with Olaf's reported romance with another snowman named Samantha. Empire characterised the number as disco-influenced, but song titles and a complete soundtrack have not yet been detailed in the source reviewed.
